Workout – None

Breakfast – Honey crisp apple, cold piece of tilapia.

Lunch – skipped…few dark chocolate covered raisins.

Day 73

Day 38/25….3 more days and its bottoms up. 😉

Workout – ZUMBA!!  Class was packed today. Good times.

Breakfast – back to old faithful.  Ok confession…I only used the peach because it was going bad and I did not want to waste it. BUT the chocolate is on the horizon.  Prefer it at night.

Lunch – 3/4 of a Protein shake.  I teach a nutrition class on Wednesdays so I do the best I can with the eating, that all one could ask!

Dinner – 1/4 of a Protein shake and some quinoa, shrimp and broccoli.  A really small portion. Tiny.

Day 66

Day 31/18 of Detox…today is the beginning of 3 shakes per day for 4 consecutive day.  Problem is that I am not quite ready to do this and refuse to straddle a weekend, especially Superbowl weekend!!  I will not drink any alcohol but I will allow myself one healthy solid meal on Sunday. I will begin my “day 18” on Monday.  Keep in mind that I am a mini pro at this so me moving around the days does not hurt me at all. I will have done this detox for almost 2 months if not more by the time I decide to come off so it’s ALL GOOD!

Workout – Zumba!! A little late like normal but got warmed up pretty fast!

Breakfast – Berry shake with all the fixing’s.

Lunch – Same as above, LOL

Dinner – Medium salad made with romaine, cherry tomatoes, olives and red onions. Olive oil, bragg amino, cider vinegar, salt and pepper. 4 baked Mardi Gras wing drums from Publix. Half bite if chocolate cake bite with herb tea.

28 Days Away!!!

Did you see the 28 Days to Health Cleanse article in the January 2011 issue of Diablo Magazine? Diablo Magazine became aware of all the buzz 28 Days to Health has created in the East Bay and

Day 50

Happy Martin Luther King Day!!  I hope you tried to somehow help someone today.  Maybe you did something to help yourself, that qualifies too.  Day 15 of Detox.  Back 100%, as if I am just starting again.  I am not starting over just continuing. And feeling good along the way. I think not drinking liquor alone has me euphoric, too much alcohol is not good for you but MAN does it taste good!

Workout – None, busy busy day.  No real excuse because I did have a good 30 this morning to exercise. I f’d that one up!!

Breakfast – Strawberry & blueberry vegan protein shake, fiber, flax, water, coconut milk.

Lunch – Lentil soup Amy’s brand, sea salt, 2 oz. roasted turkey breast cup and put in the soup.

Dinner – Berry Shake, with all the normal stuff including fiber. Took detox support tabs AM and PM.

Day 45

Day 10 of Detox!!!!  Day 3 of Winter Storm 2011. This is a pitiful little storm that no one can seem to dig us out of, my fellow Clevelanders would be offended!

Workout – NONE.  One day this workout train is going to make a pit stop here and pick me up. The winter weather blues is REAL!  Thank GOD for the detox.  Clean eating will see me through, LOL.

Breakfast – Skipped it and went straight to lunch.

Lunch – Vegan protein shake…Berry kind that I always make.  Its my go-to meal!  Get used to it. I am attempting to venture out today and see how the roads are…wish me luck!

Dinner – Wild Alaskan Cod cooked on top of stove in coconut oil, 1/2 sweet potato, broccoli, carrots and cauliflower steamed.

Day 43

Day 8 of Detox!! So Mother Nature sent us an ice and snow storm.  Make is very difficult to travel around here in this kind of weather. Most people do not know how to drive and the others that know how to get wrapped up with the ones that don’t.  I just stay at home on days like this to avoid mess.

Workout – None…weather got me down.  And the cold. But I am feeling better, just trapped in the crib dealing with Ole Man Snow.

Breakfast – Skipped it. Eating have been WAY OFF.  Especially to be detox-ing. I have not had any inflammatory foods just no appetite.  I have decided to wipe the slate clean and start a new!  What I have ingested has been phenomenal.  I am probably losing weight, not that I am trying to either!

Lunch – Cabbage with carrots and baked chicken wings. Water and detox tea….this meal was much better the the last few attempts at a meal I had!

Dinner – Not hungry but had almonds and a few raisins. Raisins have a ton of sugar, if you are trying to lose weight stay away from them! If you are just cleansing for wellness and to get rid of the old to make room for new clean supper-foods, then it is OK.  dried fruit in general is very sweet. When it dries out its sugar content/glycemic index rises. I had a little protein to slow down any sugar spike from the raisins.  It was lean turkey breast sliced.  No preservatives, hormones or antibiotics.

DETOX 101 – FAQ’S

Detox/Cleanse Frequently Asked Questions

*What is detoxification? *Who needs detoxification? *What happens if we do not detoxify properly? *What is potentially dangerous about detoxification programs? *What is a safe and effective detoxification? *Will it be uncomfortable? *Will I be in the bathroom all day? *Will I lose weight? *Will I get headaches? *Can I exercise? *Should I continue with my regular vitamins?

What is detoxification?

Detoxification is a natural and normal purification process that our bodies continuously use to get rid of substances that can be harmful to our health.

Who needs detoxification?

Everybody can benefit from the ongoing support of the cleaning up of toxins because exposure to them is unavoidable. A clinically supervised purification process will positively affect your health and ultimately improve your physical and mental well-being. It is very important for you to have additional detoxification support if you are on a weight loss program. The toxins that have been stored in fat tissue for years are liberated into the circulation during fat loss and with this 28 Day Program are eliminated from your body in a safe manner.

What happens if we do not detoxify properly?

All the environmental toxins, or the ones produced inside our bodies that are improperly eliminated and linger inside the cells or intestinal tract too long, can accumulate to create a toxic burden. Harmful health consequences that can result include:

•   can impair energy and metabolism causing symptoms of fatigue, brain fog and make fat loss difficult (weight loss resistance).

•   can increase the risk of many types of cancer (colon, lung, liver, and bladder)

•   may cause immune system impairment, autoimmune disease, brain degeneration, or impaired memory

Potentially dangerous detoxification programs to avoid:

1. Fasting: This makes you lose lean muscle, which slows down your metabolism, making it very difficult to lose weight in the future.

2. Juicing: This puts your blood sugar on a roller coaster, and much like fasting you do not get the necessary protein to support your lean body mass. You are likely to lose hair, and get saggy skin from protein deficiency.

3. Rapid Detox: IV Chelation and Colonics can fall into this category. These can be extremely stressful to your body and if you have a high toxic burden they could make you feel worse.

Detoxification for Health

What is a safe and effective detoxification?

A safe and effective detoxification program incorporates a nutrition and lifestyle program that reduces the toxic burden from food, beverages and lifestyle practices. The program ideally also incorporates amino acids, B-vitamins, and foods/supplements that support the liver, gall bladder, colon, and kidneys. The 28 – Day Program incorporates the coaching to get participants through their lifestyle changes along with the directions for amplifying a detox and weightloss program safely. Before starting one of our 28 – Day Programs, consider a few things you can do to assist your ongoing detoxification needs:

•   Drink plenty of pure water (minimum eight glasses daily) and get adequate fiber through your diet. For more information on best food choices for detoxification, ask our office for the “Detoxification for Health” patient guide.

•   Exercise! This increases blood and lymphatic flow as well as perspiration.

•   Consider starting a serving of Arbonne or Designs for Health fiber. These formulas are all natural, grain free and taste great!  Many over the counter formulas have artificial colorants, and contain sugar and aluminum. Take 1 tablespoon of PaleoFiber or Arbonne Fiber 1-3 times per day mixed in any liquid. When taken right before a meal, it will also reduce appetite.

•   Use Design for Health’s Metabolic Synergy formula or Arbonne’s Hybrids as your multivitamin. This contains nutrients that help with heavy metal and liver bile elimination. It also provides strong antioxidant support, which is greatly needed when toxins are eliminated.

•   You can get the supplements mentioned above shipped to you from the company or by ordering direct from Kimberly.  Your body will discover newfound energy and vitality as a result of going through this supervised detoxification program.

Will it be uncomfortable?

There is bound to be some opinion about the change in diet but this detox is designed to be gentle and easy to follow. Remember, it is not a fast nor is it an aggressive colon cleansing, which can be harsh on your system. You will be eating plenty of food and the shakes are pleasant tasting. You may feel a slight withdrawal during the first few days if you are giving up a lot of caffeine or a lot of sugar.  PaleoCleanse is a scientific formula, a “medical food”, which will assist you through some of the challenging days.  Have faith, it will pass, and it will all be worth it!

Will I be in the bathroom all day?

Absolutely not! Due to the increase in overall water consumption, (which I insist upon to flush out the toxins which will be released) you will find yourself urinating more than usual, but that’s all.

Will I lose weight?

The first week of the program cleans up your diet, which for most people leads to weight loss. Detox is not a weight loss program, per se. In other words, it is not a primary goal. But you are bound to lose weight from release of toxic fluid accumulation and the breaking down of toxic fat stores, in addition to consuming a very clean diet.

Will I get headaches?

If you are “withdrawing” from caffeine or sugar you will generally experience headaches for the first few days. Remember, the week prior to detox you will be decreasing intake of these substances to minimize discomfort. The formula of Paleo Cleanse will assist your body in cleansing out these substances as quickly and efficiently as possible. Designs for Health Detox Support Packets help significantly with withdrawal symptoms.

Can I exercise?

You may exercise normally (monitor yourself, of course). During some days, you may want to limit yourself to gentle movement such as walking, stretching or yoga, etc.

Should I continue with my regular vitamins?

PaleoCleanse contains a multitude of vitamins and other nutrients to help meet your daily requirements. You may suspend natural supplements during the detox if you wish but continue to take any medically prescribed pharmaceuticals. Ask your health practitioner if you have any specific questions.
